Hardie board by James Hardie is a fiber cement siding offering protection against fire and high winds, as well as increased durability over wood and vinyl siding. Specifically, James Hardie Siding resists rotting, warping and delamination. In addition, Hardie Siding is five times thicker than vinyl siding, is resistant to hail damage, and can be installed to withstand winds up to 150 MPH. So while the weather outside may be frightful, you can rest assured that your siding can withstand the elements.
Hardie Board Siding
Hardie board siding is available in a wide range of long-lasting and fade resistant colors, and is also considered “green and sustainable” by industry professionals. It’s durable, and made from natural raw materials (wood pulp, cement, sand and water) and is low maintenance.
In addition, fiber cement siding gives the #1 return on investment
and superior siding value for remodeling projects, (Remodeling Magazine’s annual “Cost vs. Value Report,” 2012-13)
Cleaning and Maintenance
You should plan on washing down the exterior surfaces every 6 to 12 months with a garden hose or low pressure water spray to remove dirt and debris. James Hardie Products with ColorPlus® Technology can be cleaned using water and a soft brush (non-metal) or rag. For stubborn dirt or stains, you can use a mild detergent and a soft brush. Pressure washing is NOT recommended, as you can easily damage the surface. If you use a pressure washer, you must take care to avoid damaging the surface. Use wide fan tips, stay a minimum of 6 feet away from the walls and use pressures under 1500 psi to minimize the chance of damaging your Hardie board siding.
